FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
What is From the Ground Up?
From the Ground Up is an Integrated Demand Management Program (IDMP) created for select communities in Arizona’s Copper Corridor.
The program is a collaborative partnership between the Town of Miami, City of Globe, and Arizona Water Company, that builds on existing water conservation efforts and resources, while also paving the way for new ones.
These partners have been doing conservation work in this region for years, but From the Ground Up offers an opportunity for leaders from these major organizations to collaborate to educate the community and provide tailored, useful information.
The program will include conversations on water resource management and help these communities thrive for generations to come.
What are the Elements of the IDMP?
This program includes both existing and new conservation efforts in the community. To learn more about the existing efforts, see the FAQ titled ‘What Efforts have Program Partners made to Conserve and Manage Water?’
New efforts within the IDMP include a dynamic public education program that shares conservation information, strategies, and tips on Facebook, produces educational videos on topics such as where these communities get their water, and increases community event participation.
And that’s just the start! Follow the Facebook page to stay up to date on the work being done through this program
Tell me more about the Partners in the IDMP?
For a demand management program to be integrated, it needs to be in tune with the community, which means collaborating with important stakeholders.
The partners behind From the Ground Up are the Town of Miami, the City of Globe, and Arizona Water Company (AWC). The City of Globe is a municipal water provider, meaning the city owns the water system.
The Town of Miami provides sewer and trash services to residents, but not water. Arizona Water Company is a private water utility that provides water for customers in all of Miami, parts of Globe, all of Winkelman, and surrounding unincorporated, or county, areas.

What are the Water Resources for these Water Providers?
The Town of Miami does not directly serve water to their community. Water in Miami is provided by Arizona Water Company.
The City of Globe uses groundwater to provide customers with fresh, clean water. AWC’s system that provides water to all of Miami, parts of Globe, all of Winkelman, and surrounding areas relies on groundwater.
By the end of 2026, From the Ground Up will release a Water Journey video that covers the local water resources, treatment, and the journey that water takes before it gets to the tap.
